Air India flight AI171 crashed in Gujarat’s Ahmedabad. All but one of the 242 people onboard have died in the tragedy, Air India confirmed earlier

An Air India plane crashed into a medical college in Ahmedabad, killing people on the ground and leaving a sole survivor on the flight. Authorities said 269 died.

On Thursday, June 12, the world witnessed one of the worst air disasters in history. A tragic crash involving a London-bound Air India flight claimed the lives of many passengers on board and killed several local residents near the crash site.

The claim can be initiated by "nominees/ legal heirs of policyholders by simply providing proof of death issued by the local government, police or hospitals."

Since the incident, the hospital has been swarmed by relatives and friends of the victims, waiting to identify or collect their bodies.

Air India has confirmed that 241 out of the 242 people who were onboard the Air India flight that crashed have been confirmed dead. There is only one survivor of the crash and he is being treated at the hospital.
