China’s top leaders have pledged to step up support for the economy stricken by a high-stakes trade war with the United States as Beijing dismisses President Donald Trump’s claims of being engaged in tariffs negotiations.

China is weighing an exemption for some U.S. imports from its tariffs as the economic fallout in its ongoing trade war with Washington becomes more apparent.

SHANGHAI (Reuters) -The Beijing-based American Chamber of Commerce said on Friday that companies in the pharmaceutical sector had reported that they had been able to import drugs to China over the past week with tariff exemptions.
