Chicago air quality remains in the top five worst in the world Friday with an Air Quality Alert in place from Canadian wildfire smoke.

Ryan Lueck is a meteorologist with the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency and explains why we've had so many air quality alerts this summer. The latest one got extended through next Monday due to the wildfires in Canada.

The smoke is expected to remain over the northern and central Plains of the United States for the next couple of days, according to meteorologists.
