Cody Johnson joined his mentors Brooks & Dunn at the 60th annual Academy of Country Music Awards for a performance of "Red Dirt Road."

Academy of Country Music Awards took place in the Dallas area Thursday night and several Texas musicians had a moment in the spotlight. Country music's longest running awards show took place at the headquarters of the Dallas Cowboys at the Ford Center at The Star in Frisco,

Cody Johnson is taking home the ACM Award for Song of the Year for “Dirt Cheap,” and so is the man who wrote the song, Josh Phillips. “I started as a songwriter in Texas,” Johnson said, holding his trophy at the podium.
