The Tigers and Astros have met in two wildly different games, despite the same coming out on top. After thumping the Astros 10-0 on Monday night, Detroit and Houston went into extras deadlocked at zero. However, several good at-bats by the Tigers in the 10th inning led to them scoring the game-winning run on a Gleyber Torres.
The Astros’ humiliating three-game sweep at Comerica Park continued a concerning trend. Houston is 14-22 since July 7. Entering play Wednesday, only the Washington Nationals, San Francisco Giants and Tampa Bay Rays had fewer wins during that 44-day sample.
Correa was brought back to Houston to aid in the second-half push, and he’s made it clear his return meant another voice in the clubhouse. During his first stint with the Astros, Correa made his leadership known throughout multiple postseason runs, with the ultimate run coming in 2017 when they won the World Series.
