“SNL” star Bowen Yang jokingly called Vice President JD Vance a “pope killer” on Thursday’s episode of “The View,” sending Whoopi Goldberg and her fellow co-hosts into fits of laughter. Yang, 34, appeared on the daytime show to promote his new movie, “The Wedding Banquet.”

Whoopi Goldberg fell over in laughter when fellow comedian Bowen Yang floated the notion that Vice President JD Vance was involved in what one might call Pope Francis’ final benediction. Pope Francis died Monday at age 88.

Bowen Yang, a cast member on "Saturday Night Live" said Thursday that he thought there would be a better person to play JD Vance on SNL, and joked, "the guy's a pope killer."
