At the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA), most of Minnesota was classified as having “moderate” air quality late Sunday morning, with areas around Marshall, Moorhead and Hibbing being a potential risk for people with breathing sensitivity. An air quality alert for Minnesota through Monday issued by the MPCA remains in effect.

As result of severe wildfires in Canada, Minnesota is facing the longest air quality alert on record since the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency began issuing alerts in 2008.

Health officials from Minnesota to Maine have issued alerts warning of poor air quality from wildfires burning in Canada. People are advised to limit outdoor exposure.
