When Messi arrived in the United States, Inter Miami hired a personal bodyguard for its captain. Yassine Cheuko went viral for his constant shadowing of Messi on and off the field, as well as the speed at which he ran onto the field to stop the threat of pitch invaders.

When he was announced as Inter Miami CF coach, Javier Mascherano made it clear his team's goal was to win every major competition it competed in: the MLS Cup, the CONCACAF Champions Cup, the Leagues Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup.

Inter Miami opened the 2025 MLS season strongly with five wins and three draws. However, last week’s loss to Dallas FC caused them to slip in the standings. Now with 18 points, they sit in fifth place, four points behind league leaders FC Cincinnati.
