Winfrey, a part-time Maui resident, was accused on social media that she wouldn’t open a private road on her property leading to higher ground.

Numerous social media posts claimed the media mogul "refused" to open her private road as cars attempted to reach higher ground.

Her spokesperson said the road on Winfrey’s property is owned by Haleakalā Ranch. Winfrey has an easement agreement with the ranch.
