Hurricane Melissa could fuel tropical downpours in separate storm hitting Boston before Halloween
Once again, there is a very amped up and active weather pattern in the Boston area during Halloween week. First, there is a major category 5 hurricane, Melissa, set to make landfall in Jamaica before charting a course off the East Coast later this week.
This fast-moving storm will produce steady to heavy rain late Thursday into the overnight. Halloween starts out wet but dries out for evening trick-or-treating.
The rain is expected to begin in Western Massachusetts between 4 and 6 p.m., before making its way north and east to Worcester, then Boston and the coast by the evening. Easterly winds are expected to pick up as the storm arrives, with gusts eventually reaching 20 to 30 mph.
