A deep partial lunar eclipse was visible across much of the Americas and parts of western Europe and western Africa on the night of August 27-28, NASA said.

During this event, the moon will appear to have a "bite" taken out of it, as part of its surface darkens when it moves through Earth's umbra, the darkest part of its shadow.
