The stage is set for a heavyweight collision at Arizona Veterans Memorial Coliseum tonight as the top-seeded Sunnyslope Vikings (27-2) and third-seeded St. Mary’s Knights (23-6) square off for the 2026 AIA Open Division boys basketball state championship.

Iowa men’s basketball threatened to pull off a major upset against Michigan on Thursday night at Carver-Hawkeye Arena. The Wolverines held on for a 71-68 victory. Bennett Stirtz led Iowa with 21 points.

The Rams, fresh off an 83-70 district final victory over Muskegon, bring one of the region’s most balanced attacks led by Central Michigan commit Jacob Bascom and an intriguing young core that includes sophomores Eli Wolfe and Josh Bascom, plus freshman standout Jace Opoku-Agyeman.
