This summer’s San Diego County Fair didn’t just bring fun and fried food to the Del Mar Fairgrounds — it also delivered a big boost to families in need across the region.

This year, fair vendors contributed 2,977 pounds of surplus food — the equivalent of about 2,481 meals — directly to the San Diego Food Bank.
