The National Hurricane Center said Tropical Storm Bertha formed on Monday evening in the Gulf, and Alabama remains under tropical storm and surge watches. Bertha, which had 40 mph winds on Monday night, is the second named storm of the 2026 Atlantic hurricane season.

Tropical Storm watches and warnings remain in effect for parts of the northern Gulf Coast as Tropical Storm Bertha continues to move northwest, the National Hurricane Center announced Tuesday.

Tropical Storm Bertha formed on July 20 as it moved toward the Gulf Coast, where forecasters say it could bring flash flooding to multiple states.
