Nintendo has taken the Wii U versions of 'Mario Kart 8' and 'Splatoon' offline indefinitely while it attempts to resolve security issues.

Mario Kart 8 has boosted weekly Wii U console sales by 666% in the UK. 82% of new Wii U customers purchased one of Nintendo's Mario Kart 8 console bundles, which launched alongside the game on May 30.

“In March 2023, Nintendo paused network services for the Wii U games Splatoon and Mario Kart 8 to address a vulnerability related to online play,” Nintendo said.
