President Donald Trump announced on Truth Social that he approved South Korea to build a nuclear-powered submarine in Philadelphia, calling it a major defense and trade breakthrough during his Asia trip.

President Trump lamented not being able to speak with Mr. Kim, the North Korean leader, but vowed to end the decades of hostilities between the two Koreas.

Trump had expressed optimism about this meeting as recently as yesterday, but when asked by a reporter if he thought there would be a signed deal today, his reply was only "could be".
