The worst of the nor'easter may be behind Jersey Shore communities hit hard by coastal flooding
Those living in or visiting the Jersey Shore on Sunday felt the impacts of the coastal storm system the hardest. The storm pounded the shore, causing coastal flooding that filled the streets with inches of water and brought heavy winds, which caused power outages.
October nor’easter will continue to intensify as it tracks up the East Coast, bringing with it the potential for heavy rain and powerful winds.
The nor’easter will continue to bring breezy conditions and showers overnight, but much better weather is ahead, forecasters say. Coastal flood warnings and advisories are set to expire at 8 p.m. with the worst of the high tides over, the National Weather Service said.
North Jersey awoke Oct. 13 to a series of weather issues including downed trees and power outages as a nor'easter slammed the state.
"It is not clear how the individual fell into the water. Coast Guard Station Woods Hull and a helicopter from Air Station Cape Cod is assisted with search efforts for approximately 1 hour. The person was recovered and transported to Air Station Cape Cod where they were seen by EMS and is in stable condition with no reported injuries."
Eversource was reporting 8,911 outages at 7 a.m. Monday.; it had varied throughout the day Sunday. The utility serves 1,334,583 customers in the state. United Illuminating, which serves 17 towns, had 1,158 outages at that time, the highest number in Milford.
