Flooding could occur in parts of central Ohio with extreme heat likely to follow for much of the area south of Columbus.
In an advisory, the NWS warned that portions of the three states are under flash flood warnings due to expected thunderstorms that will bring heavy rain.
For the remainder of today, we will be on the storm watch. There is a chance for severe storms until roughly 9pm, especially south of Chicago. If we have a severe storm, all threats are possible including torrential rain, tornadoes, and damaging wind.
Since January, more than 3,100 flash flood warnings have been issued nationwide — the highest year-to-date total since tracking began for alerts in 1986.
The power and frequency of severe storms hitting the Tri-State Area have increased significantly this year, as illustrated by the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh issuing more than double the number of flash flood warnings through the first seven months of 2025 than is typically seen in an entire year.

Storm Center 7’s Ryan Marando said there is another chance for thunderstorms in the Miami Valley Sunday afternoon. Isolated strong storms are also possible. The main threat here will be heavy downpours and gusty winds. High temperatures will be in the upper 80s to 90, with a heat index close to 100.
The Links at Groveport sits near the Little Walnut Creek which has flooded before. But it has never seen four inches in an hour.
