TOKYO (Reuters) -Japan's leading trade negotiator said on Tuesday that the trade deal Tokyo agreed with the United States last week guarantees Japan will always receive the lowest tariff rate on chips and pharmaceuticals of all the pacts negotiated by Washington.
The dollar hit a one-month high versus the euro on Tuesday in the wake of a string of trade agreements between the United States and its major trade partners, even as markets await interest decisions from the Federal Reserve.

President Donald Trump announced new trade agreements with Japan, the Philippines and Indonesia this week as the Trump-imposed August 1 tariff deadline approaches. The U.S.–Japan agreement reduces planned tariffs on Japanese exports from 25% to 15% in exchange for a $550 billion Japanese investment in U.
The 15% tariff would be lower than previously threatened, but it would remain a high duty on America’s largest trading partner.
