Winds continue to pick up across New Mexico this afternoon. Increasing the risk for blowing dust storms and fire danger. An upper level trough moved over New Mexico this morning. This trough will be bringing very strong wind gusts to nearly the entire state through the evening.

Dust storms and at least two brush fires have descended on New Mexico. The National Weather Service pushed emergency alerts to cellphones that warned of zero-visibility road conditions and adverse health consequences for infants and the elderly.

Another round of intense dust storms led to multiple crashes and at least three injuries along New Mexico highways and interstates Tuesday, officials said.
