Sofia Goggia won at Cortina d'Ampezzo, one year before she hopes for home gold at the 2026 Milan Cortina Games.

The Italian dominated on home snow in Cortina d'Ampezzo on Saturday (18 January) on the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic Winter Games course. Lindsey Vonn made her competitive return to one of her favourite slopes.

Italian skier Sofia Goggia secured victory in the World Cup downhill event at Cortina d'Ampezzo's Olympia delle Tofane course. Despite previous injuries, Goggia finished in 1:33.95, overcoming Norway's Kajsa Vickhoff Lie and fellow Italian Federica Brignone.

Vonn finished 1.68 behind Goggia. The American standout returned to the circuit last month when she finished 14th in a super-G in St. Moritz. Then she placed sixth and fourth in a downhill and a super-G, respectively, in St. Anton, Austria, last weekend.
