New York Jets wide receiver Allen Lazard is not the first receiver in NFL history to play well for a stretch of his career but begin to falter once an all-time great quarterback leaves. He just happens to be the latest example. In the case of the Jets, though, the Lazard signing has been nothing short of a disaster.
Lazard was benched midway through his first season in New York and despite some positive moments with Rodgers under center, struggled again in Year 2 with the organization. Adam Schefter of ESPN reported Monday that the Jets have given Lazard permission to talk to other teams about a potential trade.
The New York Jets are released All-Pro wide receiver Davante Adams, ending their short partnership. The Jets also are actively trying to trade former Packers wide receiver Allen Lazard. The moves come as the Jets are set to part ways with quarterback Aaron Rodgers after two seasons.
