The Connecticut Lottery player was one of seven Powerball players across the nation to win a prize totaling over $100,000 following the drawing, according to Powerball. The player initially won $50,000, and $100,000 was added to their winnings due to a Power Play. The odds of winning were one in over 913,000, according to the Powerball odds page.

More than 450,000 other Powerball tickets sold in the United States also won prizes ranging from $4 to $150,000, the lottery said.

With only one jackpot topping $1 billion in Powerball and Mega Millions in the last year, this game is what's saving Massachusetts State Lottery sales.

The last Powerball jackpot reached $1.08 billion, when the winning ticket was sold in Los Angeles on July 19, making it the third-largest prize in the lottery's history.
