Khalil Bryan, 30, was released from the Orleans Justice Center on July 25 due to a "human failure" that led to two deputies being fired, according to the Orleans Parish Sheriff's Office. He was "safely apprehended" in Texas after an anonymous tip led to "critical information on his whereabouts," the Orleans Parish Sheriff's Office said.

Following a nearly monthlong search, Khalil Bryan, 30, was found more than 370 miles away at a residence in Texas on Aug. 20, authorities said.

Khalil Bryan, the Orleans Parish jail inmate mistakenly released from the lockup in July, was arrested in a Houston suburb on Wednesday morning after nearly a month on the lam, authorities confirmed. A Crimestoppers tip led to the arrest, Orleans Parish Sheriff Susan Hutson said.
