The heir to a legendary football dynasty is facing off against a beloved incumbent in Boston’s Sept. 9 mayoral primary.

Experts say it’s remaking the role of the most powerful military in the world and its relationship with the American public.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has launched an immigration enforcement operation in Boston, dubbed Patriot 2.0. A DHS spokesperson told ABC News the operation is meant to target "the worst of the worst" in Massachusetts.

The lawsuit filed in Boston federal court marked the latest in a legal campaign the Republican president's administration has waged over laws adopted by so-called "sanctuary jurisdictions" run by Democrats. The administration contends these laws are impeding Trump's mass deportation agenda.

The Justice Department filed a lawsuit Thursday against Boston’s Democratic Mayor Michelle Wu over the city’s so-called sanctuary policy, which limits cooperation with federal immigration efforts.
