Tuesday was Election Day in five Miami-Dade cities. Voters in Hialeah, Homestead, Miami, Miami Beach and Surfside all had candidates and referendums on the ballot. Polls closed at 7 p.m., and results are now being tallied.
Voters in Miami-Dade and Monroe counties are deciding on key local races, including competitive mayoral contests in Miami, Miami Beach and Hialeah.

Tuesday night's municipal elections brought a mix of continuity and change to South Florida, with a close mayoral race in Miami Beach and an upset in a Homestead council race. In the Florida Keys, two incumbents got re-elected to the city council in Marathon.
Look for the cool change to arrive in the Miami-Fort Lauderdale metro area late weekend and on Monday, when the low-60s greet nightfall. But the cold front’s presence will be felt most chillingly Tuesday morning.
