Tennis-Sabalenka edges Raducanu in marathon clash in Cincinnati Open, Fritz cruises past Sonego
(Reuters) -World number one Aryna Sabalenka kept her Cincinnati Open title defence alive by claiming a 7-6(3) 4-6 7-6(5) victory over Emma Raducanu in a marathon third-round clash on Monday, while Taylor Fritz advanced with a straight-sets win over Lorenzo Sonego.
Sabalenka came from a break down in both sets to beat Raducanu 7-6 (6) 6-4 at the All England Club last month, saving a barrage of set points in the opener. So when the Cincinnati draw was made, everyone circled their potential round three rematch - and it delivered.
The final matches from the Round of 32 will resume and the Round of 16 will begin Aug. 13 at the Cincinnati Open. Follow The Enquirer's live coverage.
