The Palestinian death toll in Gaza has passed 60,000. The world’s leading authority on food crises says the “worst-case scenario of famine is currently playing out” in the territory of over 2 million people.

JERUSALEM/GAZA, July 27 (Reuters) - Israel on Sunday announced a halt in military operations for 10 hours a day in parts of Gaza and new aid corridors as Jordan and the United Arab Emirates airdropped supplies into the enclave, where images of starving Palestinians have alarmed the world.

The IDF plans to airdrop seven pallets of aid to Gaza Saturday, establishing humanitarian corridors as the U.N. warns of increased malnutrition in the region.

The Israeli military has announced a "tactical pause" in fighting in Muwasi, Deir al-Balah and Gaza City to address a worsening humanitarian situation.

The Netherlands banned two high-ranking Israeli officials over the current state of affairs in Gaza and allegations of meddling by Israel in attempts to influence society.

This might be a tacit admission by the Israelis that they need to do more - but more likely the measures are a response to allies.

Since Israel’s offensive led to a security breakdown in Gaza that has made it nearly impossible to safely deliver food to starving Palestinians, much of the limited aid entering is being hoarded by gangs and merchants and sold at exorbitant prices.

The UN's aid chief Tom Fletcher made the remarks as Israel began limited pauses in fighting in Gaza for 10 hours a day to address the humanitarian situation.
