Protesters returned to the Pulse Memorial crosswalk in downtown Orlando this week after state crews painted over the rainbow-colored markings, sparking renewed outrage from LGBTQ+ advocates and local residents.
Volunteers used colorful chalk to restore a rainbow crosswalk in Orlando, Florida which honored the victims of the Pulse nightclub shooting. The crosswalk had been painted over as part of the Trump administration's latest effort to remove politically-tinged street art.
Orlando officials on Thursday condemned the state’s overnight removal of a rainbow crosswalk outside the Pulse nightclub – a commemoration of the 49 people killed at the LGBTQ-friendly nightclub in 2016.
