The Rybachiy base, which hosts nuclear-powered submarines from Russia’s Pacific Fleet, lies in a cove about 80 miles from the powerful earthquake that struck near the Kamchatka peninsula last week.

The Kremlin warned Monday against “nuclear rhetoric” after President Trump repositioned two nuclear submarines because of what he called “foolish and inflammatory statements” by former Russian president Dmitry Medvedev.

Photos captured by Planet Labs, a commercial satellite imaging firm, show damage to a floating pier at the Rybachiy submarine base on the Kamchatka Peninsula, the newspaper reported. One section of the pier appears to have broken away from its anchor point.
