One Yongle auction bidder, a restaurant owner who only gave her surname as Du, said she had planned to spend a maximum of 20,000 yuan but walked away empty-handed as the final prices were too high.

A collaboration with Beijing's Yongle Auction will allow Phillips's international clients to bid at sales in mainland China.

The auction sold all 48 lots for total sales of 3.73 million yuan, or about $520,000, with nearly 1,000 collectors making bids either in person or online, Yongle said in a statement Wednesday.

The event was held by Yongle International Auction, with over a thousand bidders participating through the Yongle mobile app. Around 200 people attended in person, and 48 items were offered for sale.
