Two of the largest insurance companies in California, Mercury and AAA’s CSAA, are increasing rates and expanding fire zone coverage. AAA will raise rates by about 7% starting in March for around 481,000 homeowners in Central and Northern California. Mercury will raise rates by about 8% for more than 650,000 homeowners.
